Seabird Island Community School, traditionally known as Lalme’ Iwesawtexw, is situated along the northern edge of an open green space ringed by varied community buildings. By integrating the school into this village common, the design fosters organic interaction between students and the broader community. The building’s substantial mass also protects the open space from the extreme winter winds that funnel through the mountain valley from the north.
