University Square establishes a significant public space at the entrance to the University of British Columbia. The project, an entry to an invited competition, includes a public square, movie theatres, offices for the university administration, and leasable space. The bus drop off that currently occupies the site is relocated underground, directly below the site. Because the campus has a disconnected heterogeneous character, the design for University Square develops architectural strategies to interweave the site with its larger context, creating the basis for programatic opportunities
