John Patkau has been a practising architect for over 30 years. He is licensed in a number of jurisdictions in both Canada and the United States. He holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Manitoba. He is a Fellow of the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada, an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and the Royal Institute of British Architects, a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Art, and a Member of the Order of Canada.

Patricia Patkau has shared design direction in Patkau Architects with John since the firm’s founding in 1978. She holds a Master of Architecture degree from Yale University. In addition to practise, she is a Professor in the School of Architecture at the University of British Columbia where she has taught since the 1980s. David has been with Patkau Architects since 1990. He has a solid understanding of how to deliver projects effectively while maintaining architectural and technical excellence. He is responsible for managing and coordinating project design teams, document quality control, and ensuring that program, schedule, and budget requirements are achieved.
David is currently acting as Project Architect for the Peterson house. Recently he acted as Project Architect for the Aquatic Ecosystems Research Laboroatory at the University of British Columbia and in the recent past was also Project Architect the Gleneagles Community Centre in West Vancouver, Hamilton Village Student Housing Feasibility Study at the University of Pennsylvania, the Air Canada International Arrivals Lounge and the Agosta Residence in Washington State, all of which have received international recognition.
David is a registered architect and LEED Accredited Professional
Peter has been with Patkau Architects since 1989. He has contributed building system and detail development to all phases of the Beaty Biodiversity Research Centre, the Hamilton Village Feasibility Study, the New College House at the University of Pennsylvania, the Bibliothèque Nationale du Québec, the Harbourfront Community Centre and School, Strawberry Vale School, Newton Library, and the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery. He was the project architect for the Winnipeg Centennial Library, the Shaw House, and the Pothier Onetto House on Saltspring Island.
Peter is a registered architect.
A former student of Patricia Patkau, Greg has been with Patkau Architects for over ten years. He studied philosophy and architecture at the University of British Columbia, and received the RAIC medal when he graduated with a Masters in Architecture in 1997. His involvement at Patkau Architects has ranged the full breadth of the discipline, from programming and conceptual design to working drawings and contract administration. Greg is currently the project architect for the Marcel A Desautels Faculty of Music and the School of Art, a 20,000 sq m creative arts facility at the University of Manitoba.

Lawrence joined Patkau Architects in 2007 having previously worked in London and Edinburgh. He is experienced in all phases of the project lifecycle and has a solid understanding of how to deliver projects successfully while maintaining design excellence. Lawrence brings specialized knowledge in the use of 3D computer technology relating to complex geometries, and has a particular interest in the role advanced computer modeling can play in the development of the complete project from design prototyping through to the construction documentation and fabrication process.
Lawrence has contributed to a number of residential and institutional projects in the office and is currently responsible for developing and documenting the design of the Hadaway Residence. In addition to his architecture degrees Lawrence holds an honours degree in engineering.

Luke joined Patkau Architects in 2009 after receiving his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Toronto. On graduating, he was selected for placement on the RAIC Student Honour Roll. His academic research focused on large-scale computer assisted fabrication culminating in a design/build thesis exhibition which was nominated for the Canadian Architect Student Award of Excellence.
Maureen has worked with Patkau Architects since 2002. She gained practicum experience in all phases of project development as a key member of the project team for the University of British Columbia’s Aquatic Ecosystems Research Laboratory (AERL). She is currently working on the construction documents for the Centre of Music Art and Design at the University of Manitoba.
Maureen graduated with a Masters of Architecture degree at the University of British Columbia, where she has also taught design studio as a sessional lecturer. Upon graduating she was awarded the Abraham Rogatnick Prize for Creative and Poetic Talent in Design, and her thesis received a national design award, the Canadian Architect Student Award of Excellence.
Shane graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1999 from University College Dublin, Ireland. He moved to Canada in 2001 and worked on a number of large institutional projects in Toronto before joining Patkau Architects in 2005. He is currently managing the Goldring Centre project at the University of Toronto.

Michael is a project manager with extensive experience in leading large multidisciplinary and joint venture teams from conception through to occupancy. Since joining Patkau Architects in 2005 he has been responsible for overseeing delivery of the Beaty Biodiversity Research Center at the University of British Columbia and is currently working on the Centre of Music Art and Design at the University of Manitoba.
Prior to joining Patkau Architects, Michael spent six years working with one of Seattle’s leading architectural practices, where he was the primary contact on several high-profile federal and civic projects. Michael is a graduate of the School of Architecture at the University of Waterloo and holds both Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Environmental Studies degrees.
Stephanie graduated from McGill University with a Master's degree in Architecture in 2003 and was awarded the Ray Affleck Prize for thesis project design. She worked in Montreal largely on single family homes and small institutional projects and moved to Vancouver in 2006. Her Vancouver work experience includes major transit projects and mixed use developments.

Mike graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from the Manchester School of Architecture in 1999. He was awarded an MA in Architecture (by research) in 2000. He moved to Canada in 2006 following four years as a project architect in the UK and two years of working on public and cultural projects in the Netherlands. He is currently working on the Fort York National Historic Site Visitor Centre.
Mike is a LEED Accredited Professional
Crystal graduated from Ryerson University, Toronto with a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. Currently she is working for Patkau Architects as an administrative assistant. Her previous local experience includes work in office administration with various temping agencies. She has also gained office experience as an inside sales assistant at a local tile wholesale company.
Thomas joined Patkau Architects in 2006 following several years of experience on institutional and residential projects in Texas and Nebraska. Recently he has completed work on the Beaty Biodiversity Research Centre at UBC where his responsibilities included detailing and construction administration. He is currently involved in the conceptual design and development of the New College House for the University of Pennsylvania and construction documents for the Mishrifah Villa.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Design from the University of Nebraska and a Master of Architecture from Rice University. He also studied architecture at the University of Hannover, Germany. During graduate school he was a research and teaching assistant, and continues academic study as a guest critic at the UBC School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.

James received his Master of Architecture degree from the University of British Columbia in 2007. His graduation project received the Outstanding Thesis of the Year Award and was nominated for the Canadian Architect Student Award of Excellence. He is currently working on the Mishrifah Villa.
Dimitri is a master's graduate from the School of Architecture at McGill University. He moved from Montreal to Vancouver to join Patkau Architects. He has over eight years of experience and has worked on some of Montreal’s most prestigious institutional projects. Within the office Dimitri has contributed to both residential and institutional projects including the Beaty Biodiversity Research Centre at UBC. He is currently working on the Mishrifah Villa.
